Indonesia stands as a signatory to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, as per Presidential Decree No. 36 of the year 1990. Consequently, the nation is obligated to recognise and uphold the rights of children as stipulated within the Convention.

Hence, Rutgers Indonesia, through Power To You(th) programme and the Rutgers Lombok, conducted a Convention on the Rights of the Child Training in Central Lombok from September 13-14, 2023. This event was attended by various stakeholders, including The Integrated Community-Based Child Protection, Village Children Forum, and the Village Community Empowerment Department. The purpose of this event is to encourage the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in public policies and the government programmes, from the village level to the district level in Central Lombok.

During the training, social actors were facilitated to analyse the current regulatory landscape and its challenges. Participants were invited to delve into the history of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the definition of a child, the principles, and the different clusters of child rights conventions. The initial discussion commenced with the institutional cluster, the civil and freedom rights cluster, the alternative care cluster, and the basic health and well-being
cluster.

On the following day, they were guided to understand the education cluster, the use of leisure time, cultural activities, and the cluster of Special Protection. Participants learned these concepts alongside the analysis of real-life case studies within the community. At the conclusion of the discussion, each stakeholder formulated the possible future endeavour they can undertake.
