The ICOC (Indonesia Council Open Conference) 2023 is an event organised by the Sydney Southeast Asia Centre at the University of Sydney and the Humanitarian and Development Studies at Western Sydney University. The conference encompasses a diverse range of themes, including ‘Adolescent Well-being,’ which is highly pertinent to the initiatives at Rutgers Indonesia.
This event was held from September 26-27, 2023. The Conference serves as a forum for the convergence of academics, researchers, and the general public across diverse disciplines who share a keen interest in cutting-edge research. In ICOC, Rutgers Indonesia presented ”Programs and Collaborations to Enhance the Well-Being of Indonesian Adolescents”. This presentation underscores the critical challenges faced by adolescents in Indonesia concerning their access to Reproductive Health and Sexual Education (RHSE), the significance of early interventions, and the transformative efforts undertaken by Rutgers Indonesia over the past five years.
As our mission, Rutgers Indonesia is committed to developing and implementing the Reproductive and Sexuality Health Education (RSHE) programme for secondary school students in various provinces across Indonesia. In this session, Rutgers Indonesia shared crucial insights from the RSHE initiative, discussed advocacy programs aimed at expanding our reach, and explored efforts to integrate additional services and programmes into the curriculum.
