{"id":12500,"date":"2022-02-15T14:58:18","date_gmt":"2022-02-15T07:58:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gemilangsehat.org\/uncategorized\/gender-transformative-approach\/"},"modified":"2022-09-30T10:46:50","modified_gmt":"2022-09-30T03:46:50","slug":"gender-transformative-approach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gemilangsehat.org\/en\/newsroom\/news\/gender-transformative-approach\/","title":{"rendered":"Gender Transformative Approach"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">Gender Transformative Approach<\/h1>\n\n<p>Rutgers\u2019 gender-transformative approach examines, questions and transforms rigid gender and sexual norms and underlying power imbalances, with the aim of inclusively improving the sexual and reproductive rights of young people.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-heading\">Tackling harmful norms and practices<\/h2>\n\n<p>Our approach addresses the root causes of sexual and gender-based violence \u2013 which impacts one in three women worldwide \u2013 and other harmful practices.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-center has-text-color has-background wp-block-heading\" style=\"background-color:#ffd7c2;color:#996633\">We believe in changing norms and values that tolerate, justify and legitimise violence. Otherwise it will be impossible to prevent and end sexual and gender-based violence and ensure the rights of young people in all their diversity. For example, if a comprehensive sexuality education programme pays specific attention to gender and power, it is five times more likely to be successful in preventing unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.<\/p>\n\n<p>Gender-transformative programming can lead to 40% less violence against a partner and increased contraceptive use.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-heading\">Women, girls, men and boys are empowered<\/h2>\n\n<p>We work with women and girls and people with diverse gender or sexual identities or orientations. We also engage boys and men in improving sexual and reproductive health and rights, the prevention of gender-based violence and enhancing gender equality.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-heading\">Vital work within institutions and at all levels<\/h2>\n\n<p>Rutgers encourages other institutions to use a gender-transformative approach in their sexual and reproductive health and rights and gender-based violence work. We work with schools, workplaces and the media, police forces, prisons and local government offices.
